PRF TREATMENTS - PUSATIONAL THERMOLLESIS OF PERIPHERAL NERVES AND NERVE ROOTS
Pulsed radiofrequency thermolesion (PRF) of peripheral nerves consists in applying current in
the immediate vicinity of nerves, trunks and nerve plexuses and heating the above-mentioned
structures to 42 degrees C. Impact of current on nerves causes changes in their structure and
reprogramming of conducted impulses and switching off fibers conducting pain. PRF also
improves the blood supply to the nerve and helps to improve its function after previous
damage (e.g. during surgery).
Indications for peripheral nerve PRF:
- polyneuropathy/mononeuropathy,
- degenerative changes,
- compression neuropathies, e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome,
- damage to the ulnar nerve,
- radial canal syndrome, pronator syndrome,
- tarsal canal syndrome,
- pain in the shoulder, knees,
- migraines,
- occipital nerve neuralgia,
- neuropathy of the pudendal nerves,
- damage to the nerves in a different mechanism
- neuropathy (pain) of the roots of the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine.
Medical procedures related to PRF treatments performed at REMEDIOS:
- PRF procedures for all listed indications under USG or X-ray guidance
