Lignocaine is usually used as a local anesthetic. This drug exerts its analgesic effect by stabilizing the membrane of nerve cells, thus reducing the conduction of impulses in the sensory nerves - hence it can be used to treat some chronic pain conditions. The drug is given by intravenous infusion. Sometimes pain relief is not immediate. It may take a few days before the effect is felt.

6 hours before the procedure you can not eat food, water 2 hours before the procedure. The whole process takes about 2 hours, the infusion itself an hour.
